Relief from the heat.

Citizens of Russellville

Throughout the remainder of the summer if a heat advisory is in place for the River Valley, the Hughes Center will be available as a cool zone. For those of you in the community that may not have air conditioning or do not have a place to get cooled off, please consider coming to the Hughes Center for a safe cool zone to get relief from the heat of the day. We have a board room that can be used when not in use and will have chairs for you to rest. You may also use the gym area if not in use.

Just check with Terry Thomas, our Parks and Rec Director, about where you might spend some time in the facility cooling off.

Other Facilities offering a cool zone for this coming Monday (August 12th) and Tuesday (August 13th) from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. are:

Connect Church located at:  1103 E L St.

Russellville First Assembly located at:  124 E G St.

Tuesday Only - First Baptist Church located at:  200 S. Denver Ave.

Please ensure that you or your aging relatives get relief from the heat. We do not want people to get heat stress or a heat stroke during extreme temperatures.

For those who work in this heat, please drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks from the heat.
