Permit - A permit shall be obtained in accordance to Section 105.6 prior to kindling a fire for recognized silvicultural or range or wildlife management practices, prevention or control of disease or pests, or a bonfire.
Location – The location for open burning shall not be less than 50 feet from any structure.
- Exception 1: Fire in approved containers that are not less than 15 feet from a structure.
- Exception 2: The minimum required distance from a structure shall be 25 feet where the pile size is 3 feet or less in diameter and 2 feet or less in height.
Attendance – Open burning shall be constantly attended until fire is extinguished. A minimum of one portable fire extinguisher complying with Section 906 or other approved fire extinguishing equipment, such as dirt, sand, water barrel, garden hose or water truck shall be available for immediate utilization.
Prohibited - Open burning that is offensive or objectionable because of smoke or odor emissions or when atmospheric conditions or local circumstances make such fire hazardous, shall be prohibited.
Extinguishment Authority - The fire official is authorized to order extinguishment of opening burning that creates or adds to a hazardous or objectionable situation.

BURN BANS
Although there are days when weather conditions permit open burning for agricultural clearing and the destruction of brush piles or yard trimmings, there also are times when open burning presents too high a risk for the potential loss of property or life. The following weather factors are evaluated when determining the potential danger of open burning:
- Wind speeds
- Humidity
- Temperature
- Measurable precipitation during the last 24-72 hours
- All weather conditions during the last 24 to 48 hours (rain, temperatures, humidity, wind speeds, etc.)
